The Custom Z has been designed to meet your most exacting requirements: powerful sound and the ability to play delicate passages with ease. From the bowl to the bell, the entire design of the Custom Z has been rethought and re-examined. It is equipped with a new one-piece hand-hammered horn, providing greater flexibility in all registers, and the V1 neck producing an open, expressive sound with precise response and perfect control.
A host of advantages
Hand-engraving is carried out by craftsmen after lacquering to accentuate the contrast with the brass. The Custom Z saxophone features an ?anemone' engraving pattern that is hand-engraved on each instrument. The custom Z logo is proof of the craftsmanship that goes into each instrument. The Bocal V1 has the widest bore, giving it greater sonic openness and a wide dynamic range. The sound is more centred, with lots of harmonics, giving the musician great freedom of expression. The nickel silver neck receiver offers a condensed sound and good response with great rigidity. The octave key features a unique new ball-and-socket joint for smoother, faster action. The new neck receiver improves tonal resonance. The traditional body shape is adopted, making the sound brighter and the playing feel lighter. The material is optimised for custom models. The key layout is designed to fit the human hand. This allows players to concentrate on their performance without feeling stressed. The integrated keys add moderate resistance and make the instrument sound when blown. The unique teardrop-shaped F-key enhances playability. It adapts to players' preferences. Mother-of-pearl is used as a fingerboard button. It improves playability by making it easier to grip thanks to a soft, non-slip surface. The pads are fitted with metal resonators offering exceptional response and a wider dynamic range. They also make fast, delicate passages easier to play. The left hand rocker (Bb) has been designed to make playing easier and more comfortable. The two-point contact is adopted for better projection and free response. The craftsmen shape the bell from a sheet of brass using a hammer. This adds unity to the body and makes intonation smoother in the mid and low ranges. The key guards are fitted with adjustable stop screws, making it easy to adjust the height of the keys, as on our professional models. The elimination of the central bow improves response without affecting sound quality. The B - Low C# key matching mechanism, ensures a smooth, precise action of the low C# key and a clear response of notes in the low register.
