When asked where Michael Ilbert, multi-Grammy Award-winning producer/mixer/engineer and engineer of the EZdrummer 3 sound library, would bring a carefully curated collection of some of the most incredible, unique, and sought-after kits in the Los Angeles studio scene, the answer was simple: it was here.
Michael Ilbert's EZX Signature Series comprises two distinct titles: Part 1 and Part 2. For maximum versatility and breadth, both volumes were recorded in separate studios within the Sunset Sound complex and each include their own unique set of kits, MIDIs, and presets. Part 2, which you're currently watching, was recorded in Studio 3 and features four kits, three in its main concert hall and one in its famous isolation booth. The result is two completely contrasting atmospheres and a selection of rare and unique kits, ranging from warm, mellow, and rounded to precise, edgy, and rhythmic. Just like Part 1, the kits were culled from the Drum Doctors' archives and selected, tuned, and prepared by an artist as renowned on the Los Angeles studio circuit as Sunset Sound itself: Ross Garfield.
