The 424 Gain Stage offers all the flexibility and lo-fi sound you get when plugging a guitar directly into a Tascam® Portastudio® 424. Now in pedal form, you can easily integrate its smooth clean tones and full dynamics, as well as its powerful fuzz. With this historically accurate reproduction, JHS has perfectly recreated the original 424 MKI® circuit using UPC4570 and NJM4565 operational amplifiers and all of the original settings, which are absolutely essential for recreating the unique character that gave them their remarkable sound. The Portastudio®'s gain settings can be further refined with Bass and Treble EQ controls. In addition, the 424 Gain Stage has a jack output in addition to a balanced XLR output (DI out) for maximum flexibility. The 424 Gain Stage can be used as a DI and deliver exactly the same rich, saturated texture and lo-fi fuzz you got when plugging directly into a 424®. It can also be used with an amp, because plugging your Portastudio® into an amp was a feat in itself. Integrating the sound of the 424 with your amp's saturation adds a whole new sonic dimension and allows you to use it with your other pedals. Use it as a gain stage to boost your signal, as a new, original and colorful saturation, or push the gain controls to the max for dirty, extreme fuzz.
Features:
Volume: Output level, equivalent to the Portastudio 424 Master fader.
Gain 1: Preamp level applied to the input signal, equivalent to the Portastudio 424's Trim.
Gain 2: Volume level of the second gain stage, equivalent to the Portastudio 424's channel fader.
Bass: Cuts or boosts the low end.
Treble: Cuts or boosts the high end.

XLR output: Balanced output for live use (DI out).
Ground Lift: If you hear noise or hum, use this to isolate the ground.
