Randy Rhoads revolutionized the art of guitar heroism, fusing fluid legato phrases inspired by classical music with explosive solos. A violin-like lyricism mixed with ultra-saturated riffs. One of the most defining elements of his sound was the MXR Distortion+: Randy harnessed its raw energy to push his already saturated amp, creating a shower of harmonics and forging a signature sound that would forever mark the history of music. We celebrate his monumental legacy with this reissue of his own MXR Distortion+. For the first time in 42 years, the Rhoads family unveiled Randy's pedalboard to the MXR team. That's when a historic moment occurred: MXR engineers carefully opened the pedalboard, closely inspecting this rock ‘n’ roll relic. They meticulously reproduced the specifications of Randy's vintage Distortion+, with the direct involvement of his sister Kathy Rhoads, to create this signature model capable of delivering the same saturated tones found on his most legendary tracks. Inspired by a supersonic plane he had taken while touring with Ozzy Osbourne, Randy designed a white Flying V guitar with a border.
