The TG12345 MKIV 500 Series equalizer is the successor to the Chandler Limited TG Microphone Cassette and its flagship TG12345 Curve Bender. Its heritage is derived from the equalizers found on the historic EMI TG12345 recording consoles of the late 1960s and early 1970s. EMI's transistor-based TG12345 recording consoles helped shape the sound of the Beatles' final album, Abbey Road, as well as Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon." The TG12345 MKIV is a single-slot, fully discrete, hand-built mono equalizer designed for the 500 Series format. It features presence and bass bands, with continuous boost/cut and true bypass.
The presence band is switchable, with eight frequencies and one output position. The first seven frequencies are bell-like, and the eighth is a 10 kHz shelf. The bass band is shelving, with two frequency options, 90 or 150 Hz. The rich character of the TG12345 MKIV equalizer is smooth as silk, and the sound is as smooth as a Curve Bender. Combined with the Chandler TG Opto compressor and TG2-500 preamp, the TG12345 MKIV equalizer creates a classic EMI TG console channel in a 500 series rack.
