The PRS Horsemeat transparent overdrive is a circuit designed from the ground up to enhance the sound of the guitar without coloring it. Using germanium diodes, the Horsemeat provides a deep sound without being nasal or too high-pitched, with great harmonic richness by amplifying the low and high frequencies, while offering increased dynamics. Depending on the configuration, the Horsemeat can be used as a clean boost, directly as an overdrive, or even improve the distortion of an amp by slightly tightening the amp's preamp section. In essence, and in the words of Paul Reed Smith, the Horsemeat sounds like a good amp.
