As evident in classical soundtracks and arrangements as in anything from pop and rock to hip-hip and every imaginable offshoot of electronic dance music, the marimba and the xylophone are the undisputed two greats of the family of melodic wooden percussion instruments. The dark, rich, full, earthy and courageous sound of the marimba is ideal for arpeggios and leads in an EDM track as it is for a dramatic transition in a film or accents in parodies and comedies. Likewise, the more accentuated, bright and dry tone of the xylophone is a stunning sound and piercingly effective melodic voice in any context in which it is used.
Recorded to suit everything from large-scale classical compositions to meeting all your general songwriting needs, both instruments were captured at Galaxy Studios' famous 330 square meter main hall using a network of different microphones. In addition to a generous selection of close mics positioned to capture the immediate attack and body of each instrument, multiple mics have been positioned around them for surround sound compatibility in systems up to 5.0. Additionally, the marimba was also recorded in the smaller Studio 1, space to offer an even more intimate version of the same instrument.
Besides the instruments, this EKX also includes a core MIDI library unique to the product as well as a large collection of presets showcasing sounds and microphone options in anything from small to monumentally large.
