Introduced in the early 1970s, the Omnipressor was the first dynamic effects processor of any kind, suddenly making possible a new and wide range of dynamic effects unlike anything else who had preceded him. Originally invented by Eventide founder Richard Factor (and later redesigned for production by Jon Paul), the Omnipressor made a multitude of effects possible. It featured variable control of all aspects of dynamic editing. He also introduced the notion of “side chain” and predicted techniques we take for granted today, like “feedforward” processing. One of our first clients was young Brian May, lead guitarist for Queen. With the Omnipressor in his gear, his sound has never been the same.
