Description

- You have to start as a child, after it's too late ...
Limiting beliefs are received ideas, without real foundation, intended to prevent us from undertaking by mentally diminishing us.
- I'll never get there ... That's not for me ...
They have a function: to protect us from failure, from disappointment. Or success, and its consequences ...
They do not play against us, they believe they are acting for us, for our good.
It is a defense mechanism.
But this mechanism often gets carried away. As with some allergies, the body believes it is protecting us from harm and stimulates a disproportionate, even completely inappropriate, reaction.
Limiting beliefs are inappropriate allergic mechanisms.
Allergic mechanisms of our mind (...)

Aimed at all those interested in the practice of the piano, and more generally in musical practice, this book covers all aspects of learning in adulthood, whether one is a beginner or an experienced musician.
The difficulties - the brakes, the blockages - are more psychological than technical. They are the ones we can meet in our daily life, exacerbated by the expression of our sensitivity.
The author analyzes them to allow us to understand and overcome them, and opens the doors to a world of unexpected richness, far beyond the framework of an artistic practice.
This universe which is both in art, and in ourselves.

Do Ré Mi Fa Sol
"My best music teacher has been my Yoga teacher" said violinist and conductor Yehudi Menuhin. According to the author of this book, this statement is not surprising since most of the difficulties encountered during the learning of an instrument are not related to music but to imitating beliefs! The musical practice is in fact a revealer which places the one who devotes himself to it facing his own shortcomings, blocking difficulties. By analyzing these different brakes, the author allows us to understand them, to overcome them and opens wide the doors to a universe of unexpected richness.

Breathe n ° 18

Currently, researchers are very interested in the causes and effects of emotion (cf. Marc-Mathieu Münch: theory of "the effect of life"; Alain Joly: Bach, spiritual master, Paris, Tallandier, 2018). Relating to the piano, this book reveals its potential and its unexpected impact from 30 components with questions and observations.
Stéphane Udovitch, musician and teacher, turned to many complementary disciplines: psychoanalysis, Gestalt therapy, hypnosis, yoga, Zen, leading to discovery and self-understanding. He also uses his teaching experience with many pupils (cf. p. 159). The dominant ideas of this vast investigation are very numerous: receptivity, reception and availability; going beyond everyday contingencies and looking for ourselves; desire and passion essential to the performer, "vector of the work". The effects of piano music are psychological: self-confidence and discovery, humility; physical: body relaxation, ear training; technique: music theory, breathing mode ..., to which are added problems inherent in interpretation: blocking and jitters (component 25); music and ego (26). Paradoxically (in appearance), the conclusion of this multifaceted work is so rightly entitled: "Une Ouverture" (p. 156). To remember in particular among the 30 components: "Music and silence" (21) which is both inside and outside of us, thanks to the silences (noted): "Music takes on its meaning in this game of contrasts between self and silence "(p. 107); "Music and spirituality" (30) ...
In short: 159 pages resulting from a vast didactic experience and the fruit of an unimaginable capacity for thinking in the making: an exceptional challenge and a door always "open".
