A little bit about the omnis .
An omnidirectional microphone has a sensitivity from all angles - in principle, it captures the sound equally in all directions. This gives you an extremely natural and realistic sound with respect to a cardioid micro. Omnidirectional microphones are often used to capture ambient sounds, as well as to capture a large sound source such as a choral in a registration situation. Unfortunately, because of their sound setting configuration, OMNI pickups can also produce a lot of feedback in direct situations.
