Taylor Guitars Gs Mini-e Koa

Description

GS MINI-e Koa

With the warmth and resonance of such a striking tonewood taking centre, back and side of stage in its all Koa body, responsibly sourced from Taylor’s conserved land on the big island of Hawaii – The GS Mini-e Koa adds a sophistication and maturity of tone to what has proven to be one of the most, if not the most successful acoustic guitar series of all time. A scaled down version of Taylor’s large Grand Symphony (GS) body shape, this parlour size heavyweight, with layered Koa sides and arched back (helping to for increase the output) features onboard electronics and tuner, with the hardwood top adding a degree of natural compression to the sound, offering shimmering high end clarity with the bottom end opening up a little over time, similar to Taylor’s legendary all solid Koa guitars. With unrivalled playing comfort, wherever inspiration strikes you - be it on the sofa or on the road – the ultimate parlour guitar is built to fit and to withstand the rigors of the road, stage, studio, beach jam sessions and tour van songwriting sessions. A true industry legend – and biggest selling acoustic guitar of the last 20 years, possibly of all time - The GS Mini family has taken the world by storm and given hitherto unthinkable levels of quality, playability, and downright fun players around the world – from all walks of life and levels of ability.

GS Mini

A scaled-down GS that’s anything but small.
  • Scaled-down Grand Symphony body
  • Great for all playing styles
  • Considered a modern-day parlor guitar
The award-winning GS Mini was designed to be the ultimate musical companion, wherever you go — or stay. Inspired by the big, bold sound of Taylor's GS body shape, the Mini scales things down without skimping on sound, packing a ton of tone into a comfortable travel size and giving you a guitar that's full-voiced and incredibly fun to play. Think of the Mini as a modern-day parlor guitar, perfect for playing around the house but also built to fit an active lifestyle.

Layered Koa

Layered Hawaiian koa offers players a gorgeous visual aesthetic paired with long-lasting resilience and vibrant tone. Though less sonically complex than solid wood, layered koa ensures clarity and balance while remaining strong and stable through travel and humidity changes.

Hawaiian Koa

A hardwood top such as koa produces a natural compression, so there tends to be more of a controlled, sustaining “roll-in” effect to a note. An all-koa guitar will produce a strong fundamental focus, with a splash of top-end shimmer. As a tropical hardwood, a koa top will initially project a bright and focused tone, especially together with koa back and sides, but as it's played, it matures into an increasingly warm, rich, sweet sound with healthy overtone ""bloom,"" especially in the midrange. A common mistake is when a ""bright"" player buys a koa-top guitar in part for its visual beauty, finds it to be too bright, and doesn't play it enough to allow the wood to develop its resonant tone. Goes Well With: Fingerstylists who play more with the pads of their fingers and tend to have a meatier touch. Bright players need to be careful because of koa's existing brightness.

ES-B

This version of our ES-B electronics incorporates Taylor’s Expression System® 2 piezo design elements and features a multifunctional onboard preamp with a built-in digital chromatic tuner and active tone-shaping EQ control. The preamp/tuner unit features an LED display for tuning and low battery indication, along with a Volume control and 3-band EQ. The preamp/tuner is powered by a 9v battery. With an alkaline battery, battery life expectancy when using the preamp only is over 500 hours, and when using the tuner is over 50 hours. Plugging in the guitar will activate the battery. A low battery indicator on the LED display (located on the preamp circuit board) will light up when the battery reaches 4.5 volts.

After more than 6 months of use, I can now complete my review. First, once the initial phase of euphoria passed, I realized several deficiencies: 1- the guitar is hard to play, the strings are very hard, the action is too high 2- the guitar has beautiful highs but is very weak in the bass. So I waited, while playing regularly, for the woods to "break in." Since the situation did not improve, I brought it to my favorite luthier. He observed everything and understood that the strings were way too hard, the saddle was poorly installed, etc. After reinstalling the saddle, adjusting the neck that had been carved by the strings, filing the nut slots, and putting on some really good strings, the improvement is impressive. This little guitar projects very well with a wide range, it is easy and pleasant to play. So, fellow guitarists, don't trust the raw product, throw away the original strings and you'll get a very good guitar, beautiful and practical.... (Show more)

Beautiful small guitar with an amazing sound. For lovers of fine wood and deep resonances with woody tones.
