An ultra-complete two-channel acoustic preamp!
The Radial PZ-Pro preamp features two independent and flexible channels to amplify and process electro-acoustic instrument signals in any situation. Each channel has volume control, a 3-band equalizer (with semi-parametric mid adjustment), as well as a Notch or Hi-Pass filter to prevent feedback on stage. Both channels have a jack input with the option to mix (or not) the signals from channels A and B, which is very practical and inspiring! Additionally, channel B has an XLR microphone input that can accommodate condenser microphones thanks to the built-in 48V phantom power.
An effects loop with jack connectors is present and assignable to channel A, channel B, or both simultaneously, and you can control the blend of your processed signal via the FX Blend potentiometer. A boost section is available on both channels to adjust your piezo input signal (per channel by adapting impedance and allowing a +10dB boost) or simply to boost your overall sound up to +15dB, controllable via an assignable footswitch.
On the output side, the PZ-Pro features a jack amp output that retains the signal processed by the equalizer, filter, effects loop, and boost. The two balanced XLR outputs, pre and post equalization, include a polarity reverse switch and a ground lift switch to optimize sound and avoid interference. A tuner output is provided to always stay well tuned and remains active when the Mute switch is engaged. Regarding footswitches, they are partially assignable via a toggle switch to activate either the effects loop, the boost, or both simultaneously by foot. Finally, the A+B button on the rear panel of the preamp allows mixing channels A and B with their respective equalizations and filters; in this mode, the footswitch toggle for A or B is disabled, and the footswitch will activate or deactivate both channels simultaneously.
Clever, professional, and versatile!
The PZ-Pro is versatile and well-designed enough to handle the most complex stage setups, with the ability to amplify instruments equipped with a two-mic preamplification system via a stereo jack. It also allows combining a simple electro-acoustic guitar preamp system with an additional microphone (magnetic / piezo / condenser) possibly powered by the PZ-Pro’s phantom power. This preamp will also be, for example, the ideal preamp and direct box if you have a setup with an electro-acoustic ukulele or a violin or any other type of acoustic instrument with or without a preamplification system. As you can see, the Radial PZ-Pro is the perfect professional tool for sound engineers to manage the sound of acoustic instruments both on stage and at front-of-house with studio-quality sound!
