TAYLOR GUITARS Ad27 American Dream Grand Pacific

Description

AD27

A US made Taylor guitar at a never seen before pricepoint and part of the American dream series - released in 2020 during times of unprecedented global uncertainty with the function of keeping Taylor craftspeople in jobs and pushing boundaries in guitar design, the non electro AD27 puts cosmetically imperfect wood to good use that would otherwise have been overlooked due to subtle blemishes and imperfections. the AD27 features the sloped shoulder dreadnought Grand Pacific (GP) body shape and pairs a hardwood solid Mahogany top with resonant and dynamic solid Sapele back and sides, to create a warm, rich tone that throws well, is punchy in the midrange and smooths out a heavy strumming approach a little thanks to the natural compression the mahogany top offers. With a wealth of high end specs found on high end Taylor models including volume / sustain boosting V-Class bracing technology, the AD27 features a smooth action low profile (matte finish) Taylor neck that stays in tune right the way along the Eucalyptus fretboard and packs an array of comfort, playability and aesthetic enhancing features including an ultra-thin gloss, chamfered body edges, an Urban Sienna stain that makes the grain really pop, and a single ring maple rosette. The AD27 ships in an ultra-durable yet lightweight premium Aerocase.

Grand Pacific

A complete re-interpretation of the traditional dreadnaught, with a sonic character completely unlike anything else in the Taylor line, the unique round-shoulder silhouette of the Grand Pacific – brainchild of Taylor Master Builder Andy Powers is a veritable cauldron of tone. Lush washes of colour, a distinct blurring of notes and profound warmth – all encouraged by the revolutionary V-Class bracing system. Whether you’re a traditionalist hankering for classic looks, or chasing the allure of something completely different - with a seductively bold and versatile tonal profile, excellent playing comfort and classic Taylor playability, the Grand Pacific will scratch your itch.

Sapele

Sapele produces a warm and mellow tonal quality, similar to that of mahogany, for a full and balanced tone with a good helping of volume. Its woody response and punchy midrange make it a popular choice for players seeking a fundamental-rich sound with minimal overtones.

Tropical Mahogany

Mahogany is known for its meaty midrange character, featuring a strong fundamental focus often described as “punchy,” “woody,” or “dry,” because it doesn’t produce a lot of ringing overtones. Mahogany’s earthy voice has been featured on many roots music recordings over the years. Mahogany is a good wood to anchor a discussion of tones, as a lot of other wood tones can be described in relation to it. Its essential sonic profile is well represented in the midrange frequencies. Acoustic guitars in general tend to live in the midrange portion of the sound spectrum, but mahogany in particular displays a lot of midrange character. That thick, present midrange sound is sometimes described in guitar circles as meaty, organic or even chewy; whenever a player digs in on the fretboard, they're tapping into the core of the harmonic content of what a guitar produces. Those great midrange frequencies produce overtones that stack up and produce bloom, giving the sound extra girth. When one hears the resulting harmonics, the chewy tone serves up a big mouthful of midrange. As a popular tonewood for many decades, mahogany has been used on scads of old school acoustic recordings, and that sonic heritage carries across various strains of roots music, from blues to folk to slack key.

V-class Bracing

Bracing is the internal framework of an acoustic guitar that plays a vital role in the way the instrument shapes the sound. Although X-bracing has been standard in acoustic guitars for over a century, it creates an innate conflict between two key elements of a guitar's sound: volume and sustain. The guitar's top (its soundboard) contributes significantly to both. The flexibility of the top generates volume (projection), while its stiffness generates sustain. And with X-braced guitar tops, here's where the trade-off comes in: when something is made stiffer, its flexibility is reduced (and vice versa). V-Class bracing changes all that. With Taylor's V-Class bracing, an acoustic guitar top can be both stiff and flexible — for more volume and sustain. V-Class bracing provides stiffness parallel to the strings for more rigidity and hence sustain. Flexibility on either side generates the air movement necessary for robust projection - so it's the best of both worlds. This groundbreaking innovation also improves intonation, not only producing notes that are louder and with longer sustain — but more in tune with each other. V-Class bracing also boosts volume evenly across the tonal spectrum, increases sustain, and improves the natural intonation of the instrument by creating a more synergistic response from the soundboard. This fosters a more harmonious relationship between the notes you play, helping chords to ring out in cohesive splendor. Pick up a Taylor with V-Class bracing and experience it for yourself.
