The Behringer TD-3 BK follows in the footsteps of bass synthesizers that have become iconic over the years, notably due to their central role in the emergence of house and EDM. Designed as an ultra-accessible nod to this sonic aesthetic, it adopts the "one machine, one character" approach while adding a distortion circuit and connectivity tailored for current setups (studio and live).
Monophonic and immediate, the TD-3 BK is ideal for beginner musicians who want to explore analog synthesis without getting lost in menus, as well as for experienced producers seeking a machine dedicated to acid basses, sharp leads, and evolving sequences. It excels in techno, house, acid, synthwave, electro, rhythmic ambient, and fits easily into live setups thanks to its sequencer, arpeggiator, and MIDI and CV/Gate connections.
The TD-3 BK is a monophonic analog synthesizer based on a subtractive architecture: a VCO (waveforms such as inverted sawtooth or pulse) feeds a low-pass filter with a distinctive character, rated at 24 dB/octave, then a VCA to shape attack and dynamics. Its sequencer allows programming patterns up to 16 steps (notes and rests), with saving and recall of up to 250 patterns divided into 4 groups, in keyboard or step mode to maintain a performative aspect. The built-in arpeggiator also opens the door to fast, repetitive patterns, perfect for generating tension in an arrangement. To thicken the sound, an analog On/Off distortion with Drive control beefs up the output, from subtle grit to more radical saturation. On the integration side, the Poly Chain function lets you chain multiple TD-3 units to reach up to 16 voices, while MIDI, USB-MIDI, and CV/Gate patchbay connectivity facilitate control via external sequencer, DAW, or semi-modular system.
