Shortly after the emergence of the most iconic bass lines, the community quickly realized that an already legendary machine could go even further thanks to hardware modifications adding new playing and sculpting possibilities. The Behringer TD-3-MO-AM captures this "mod" spirit in an accessible format, preserving the DNA of monophonic analog synthesis while adding features designed for modern production.
The TD-3-MO-AM is aimed at beginner to advanced musicians who want a true analog bass instrument that is immediate yet capable of going very far. It excels in techno, acid, electro, EDM, synth-pop, and wave, but is equally comfortable for grittier textures in sound design, percussive sequences, or bass lines that saturate a mix. On stage, its front panel controls invite performance (accent, slide, filter sweeps); in the studio, its CV/Gate connectivity and MIDI/USB integration fit easily into a hybrid workflow.
Based on a subtractive analog architecture, the TD-3-MO-AM combines a VCO with sawtooth and square waveforms, a 4-pole resonant low-pass VCF, and a VCA with vintage-style behavior. The cutoff, resonance, envelope, decay, and accent controls allow you to shift from a round, elastic acid sound to more biting attacks. The Sub Oscillator adds an extra octave to thicken the low end, while the overdrive and Muffler circuit provide post-VCA distortion with a solid bass response.
For performance, you benefit from a 16-step sequencer (7 tracks) with pattern saving and recall, and an arpeggiator for creating quick variations. The "mod" functions enhance expressiveness: filter control via MIDI CC, extended range Slide Time, Sweep Speed modes (slow, normal, fast), Accent Sweep with high resonance mode, Filter FM (filter frequency modulation from the VCA audio output), Soft Attack, and dedicated settings for accented and non-accented note behavior. Finally, the 16-voice Poly Chain allows stacking multiple units to build evolving polyphony, and the panel offers 15 controls and 33 switches for immediate hands-on control.
