hapiNES draws inspiration from the RP2A07 sound chip associated with the NES universe to recreate iconic timbres and a "video game" response in a standalone instrument. The Large (L) version carries forward the spirit of the slimsynth while enhancing studio and stage integration thanks to hardware MIDI connectivity and analog synchronization, all housed in a metal chassis built to last.
This chiptune synthesizer is aimed at producers of electro, techno, synthwave, pop, and soundtrack music who want to inject credible 8-bit melodies into their tracks. Ideal in the studio for quickly programming hooks and retro-character basses, it is also designed for live performance thanks to per-track MIDI control, patterns, and synchronization. Accessible from beginner level, it offers enough depth for advanced musicians seeking a dedicated, expressive, and immediate instrument.
With its 4 tracks, hapiNES allows real-time composition while maintaining independent control of each voice via MIDI. The chiptune engine offers an authentic NES bass of 4-bit triangle type, complemented by two square oscillators with variable pulse width featuring NES-style PW scales, perfect for leads, chords, and counter-melodies. On the rhythm side, you have 59 drum sounds synthesized in real time, plus an auto-evolving drum sound to add movement without complex programming.
To energize your sequences, the instrument integrates 16 arpeggiator modes with adjustable speed, as well as a vibrato with variable depth and speed for livelier melodies. The performance-oriented sequencer allows live recording, key changes, and pattern chaining (up to 16 patterns / 256 steps), with copy/paste functions, step ratcheting, and arbitrary pattern length. The playing interface is designed for the stage with 18 buttons, 32 LEDs, and 3 brightness levels "Beach, Studio, Club", plus 6 high-quality metal potentiometers fixed by screws for precise and durable handling.
