Description

Essential Information About the U-Phoria UMC22 Audio Interface

  • Midas-designed microphone preamp for clean, detailed, and dynamic vocal recordings, with +48 V phantom power.

  • 2 x 2 USB at 48 kHz: simple and reliable stereo recording for vocals, guitar, synth, or podcasting.

  • Zero-latency direct monitoring and powerful headphone output for precise control during recording.

  • Robust metal chassis and USB-powered for hassle-free home studio or mobile sessions.

Compactness Serving Creativity

Designed as the ideal entry point in the U-Phoria range, the UMC22 condenses the essentials of a studio interface into an ultra-compact format. Its clear goal is to provide a reliable and consistent capture chain centered around a Midas preamp, facilitating clean and steady recordings without the need for multiple adjustments or accessories.

Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses?

The UMC22 targets solo creators, podcasters, singer-songwriters, and beginner producers seeking a simple workflow. Plug a microphone into the combo input for vocals and a guitar into the dedicated instrument input: you get an immediate solution for demos, tutorials, voice-overs, live streams, and rehearsals, with controlled latency and comfortable headphone monitoring.

Features Designed for Everyday Recording

Preamp and Conversion

The Midas microphone preamp delivers clean gain, ideal for dynamic and condenser microphones thanks to +48 V phantom power. Conversion up to 48 kHz at 16-bit ensures lightweight, easy-to-process files while maintaining a stable stereo image and low background noise for most creative uses.

Connectivity and Control

The combo XLR/6.3 mm jack input allows connection of a microphone or line source, while the high-impedance instrument input accommodates guitar or bass without a DI box. The ?Signal? and ?Clip? indicators help set gain to avoid distortion. The 6.3 mm stereo headphone output and two jack outputs provide faithful monitoring on headphones and studio monitors.

Smooth Workflow

Thanks to direct monitoring, you hear yourself in real time without routing through the computer, enabling more comfortable takes and reassuring performers. USB power and a durable metal chassis make transport and quick setup easy, whether at the office, rehearsal room, or a fellow musician?s place.

I hesitated for a long time with higher-end models like a Foscurite. Not wanting to exceed a small budget for my first homestudio, I finally followed my instinct for this card: amazing! Good latency, doesn't crash, on Ableton it performs perfectly! I have a CM60 mic that it works very well with! For demos, it's more than enough! Also: aesthetically it's very nice, and its finishes are not cheap at all! As for the Behringer brand: forget the reviews on the internet and forget its very old reputation! The progress is real and it's worth investing to start (or not!)

From a completely (like really completely) novice point of view: I wanted to record the noise I make with bass/guitar. Sound going in, sound coming out on my PC. Plug&Play on Linux with Audacity, nothing to do. The sound is fine for me, no background noise (other than me). I have no experience with other equipment or length of use, but for me it fully meets my expectations, affordable price, fast delivery as usual.
