Positioned as the 4-input / 4-output interface in the range, the UMC404HD embodies the "studio in a box" concept. The "HD" version enhances definition, dynamic range, and USB 2.0 stream stability, surpassing earlier UMC generations for more ambitious multitrack sessions and a more detailed sound.

Designed for home studios, podcasts, and multi-source recordings

Perfect for singer-songwriters, multi-mic podcasters, or small bands, it simultaneously records vocals, guitars, keyboards, and drum machines. The inserts on each channel facilitate reamping and integration of external effects, while multiple outputs simplify stage monitoring, A/B listening, or sending backing tracks.

A seamless workflow from mic to mix

Preamps and conversion. MIDAS preamps deliver clean, quiet, and generous gain, ideal for demanding dynamic microphones. The 24-bit / 192 kHz conversion preserves transients and micro-details for recordings that mix easily.

Monitoring and outputs. Zero-latency direct monitoring provides natural feedback to the musician. The main XLR/TRS outputs ensure reliable connection to your monitors, complemented by four line outputs to create multiple listening zones or feed external processors.

Studio integration and MIDI. The USB 2.0 connection guarantees broad compatibility with major DAWs. MIDI In/Out ports synchronize keyboards, controllers, and sound modules for a coherent and expandable setup.

since I have an RME fireface ufx II supposed to be the top of the top that cost me an arm and a leg. And it doesn't work on my 2 PCs and 3 DAWs. I regret my Behringer which never caused any problems. It's simple, everything works perfectly the first time, everywhere. And honestly the sound quality is frankly quite good. A professional classical musician who is starting to seriously doubt the big brands' hype.

Good little USB sound card, very low latency if you don't leave the buffer setting on automatic in the control panel (at 24bits 96 Khz and 512 buffer, I have 6.3ms latency both ways, no clicks, perfect). The only flaw, not insurmountable but a bit annoying: it's the noise level of the preamps (supposedly crazy Midas) which is around -90Db. It's very good for most uses but when recording electric instruments (guitar and bass) intended to be processed in high gain plugins (high gain saturation metal type via various plugins including Positive Grid BIAS) it hisses a lot. Nothing that can't be fixed with a good noise gate plugin but not very fun. Also these preamps saturate quite quickly, with my passive but punchy guitar mics, I have to activate the Pad to avoid saturating the input with the gain knob at one fifth of the range. Basically, for the price there is simply no equivalent with such output quality (great headphone amp, haven't tried with my monitors yet), such number of inputs/outputs, MIDI, 4 inserts for your analog effects, etc... I recommend it with a caveat.... (Show more)
