I switched from a B45 mouthpiece with a classic ligature and standard Vandoren reeds to this BD5 mouthpiece with a Vandoren M/O ligature and Vandoren V12 reeds: pure happiness! The first hour of use, I thought: nothing new here, I don't play better or worse than before this change... but very quickly, and now after several weeks of use, I am truly convinced and amazed by the sound rendering of this mouthpiece/ligature/reeds combination. When Vandoren writes on the mouthpiece box "an exceptional depth of sound, a round and compact tone, the perfect balance," I must say that is exactly it. In the low and mid registers, this is especially true, even when playing pianissimo. This mouthpiece offers real homogeneity across all registers and a genuine added value to the quality of the emitted sound. I highly recommend adopting this mouthpiece! For your information, I have no affiliation with Vandoren and I am no longer a professional clarinetist.... (Show more)

Really a very good mouthpiece. Compared to a 5RV, on the same clarinet, the same reed, and the same clarinetist, you go from a somewhat nasal sound to a full, round, and easy-to-produce sound. This mouthpiece is a real success

Paired with a semi-rigid Brancher ligature, the sound is fantastic: powerful yet warm. The highs come through better than on my B40L. Thanks to Vandoren and Woodbrass.

Excellent mouthpiece. Very round sound, "velvet" type, perhaps a little less timbred than a CL4. Easy and solid highs. To try it is to adopt it.
