An essential element in clarinet playing, the mouthpiece chosen must be meticulously chosen to match the musician's preferences as closely as possible. This series is available with two different chinrest angles: traditional and Profile 88. The only difference is the angle of the chinrest, so the musician is free to choose the model that will give him or her more ease of playing, easier and more precise release and better comfort due to a better position of the instrument.
The B40 Lyre Profile 88 mouthpiece: the perfect balance of a round and colourful sound, with ease of emission, especially in the upper register.

Comfort and playing situation options.

The majority of Vandoren mouthpieces are available in 3 different versions: the Traditional chinrest, the Profile 88, which is thinner and offers musicians another mouthpiece option, and the 13 Profile 88 series, with an American pitch (440 Hz).

Ebonite, an optimal material for mouthpiece making.

Made from a mixture of natural rubber, sulphur and linseed oil, ebonite is shaped through a dozen steps to finally produce sublime mouthpieces with over 90% of the outer surface polished. Only the table will remain rough in order to avoid any inaccuracy that would be due to too much polishing.

I bought this mouthpiece to replace the one on my Yamaha 250 SUK clarinet: it fits perfectly on it. Overall, it has the same table length as the Yamaha 6C mouthpiece but it is more open, which allows me to play softer reeds and play "smoothly" (I cut my own reeds from classic Vandoren 2.5). This mouthpiece has helped me improve the transitions between the low and high registers: but I still need to work on this point (there is no miracle). For your information, I resumed playing the clarinet a few months ago: I had played it for 7 years during my adolescence. Otherwise, VERY COMPETITIVE price at the moment! And ordered on Monday evening, received on Wednesday: perfect!
