Schott BRUCH MAX - KOL NIDREI OP. 47 - CELLO AND ORCHESTRA

Description

The success of his (first) violin concerto brought Max Bruch to the brink of despair: "I can no longer hear this concerto," he wrote to his publisher, considering that it indeed prevented access to his other works. A mistake, as proven by Kol Nidrei - an adagio "based on Hebrew melodies," op. 47 - which is among the most expressive works of the Romantic era for solo instrument. Composed in 1881, it reflects the composer's enthusiasm for folk song and is written in a language overflowing with passion and warmth.
