Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Piano Trio No.2 in C minor Op. 66
Ernst Herttrich (Editor)
Klaus Schilde (Fingering)
Urtext edition, paperback binding
After the great success of his first Piano Trio in D minor op. 49, five years passed until Mendelssohn began to work on a new composition for the same workforce. The Trio in C minor then saw the light of day in a relatively short time, in March / April 1845, and was published barely a year later. Of a noticeably darker character than its predecessor, this second trio is also considered (especially for the piano part) as incomparably more difficult on the technical level. As a result, he remained a bit in the shadow of the first trio. Connoisseurs of chamber music, however, appreciate it as a more accomplished work and more demanding in terms of musical writing. The piece, taken from the volume: Mendelssohn · Piano Trios HN 957, is for the first time available separately from Henle in a practical performance edition.
