Created to celebrate a long-standing collaboration with Zakk Wylde, the Wylde Audio Phase follows the tradition of MXR phasers that shaped rock. Inspired by the simple and effective aesthetic that popularized the effect, it condenses the DNA of a classic into a version tailored for muscular playing and sharp attacks.
Ideal for rock, hard rock, and heavy metal guitarists, the Wylde Audio Phase suits both aspiring musicians and professionals. In the studio or on stage, it adds dimension to clean arpeggios, thickens distorted riffs, and projects solos to the forefront. On a pedalboard, place it before overdrive for an organic sweep, or after for a more pronounced effect.
The philosophy is minimalist and highly effective: a single "Speed" potentiometer adjusts the modulation rate, from deep slow sweeps to tight pulses. A sturdy footswitch activates the effect (status LED), while the mechanical bypass preserves your signal integrity when the pedal is off. Input/output are 6.35 mm jacks, standard 9 V center-negative power supply or 9 V battery depending on your needs.
Thick and musical, the modulation delivers that warm MXR "swirl," with a solid midrange foundation and touch-responsive dynamics. Set around 9 o'clock, as preferred by Zakk, it offers a slow sweep that envelops the sound without crushing it; pushed further, it becomes more incisive for leads that cut through the mix. Transparent when needed, colored just enough to broaden the spectrum, it works equally well on sparkling cleans and high-gain saturations.
