Fender CN-140SCE Nylon Thinline, Walnut Fingerboard, Natural w/Case

The Classic Design CN models combine the easy playability and distinct tone of nylon strings with the comfort of steel-string spacing. We've replaced the typically wide necks normally found on classical guitars with the same easy-playing neck profile found on all other Classic Design models. As a nod to tradition, the CN-140SCE uses a solid cedar top, along with walnut back and sides for a warm and mellow tone.


The CN-140SCE provides a supremely comfortable experience for players of any skill level - the 'thinline' concert body makes it a perfect guitar for the living room and stage alike, while the single cutaway makes it easy to access higher frets. When the need to plug in arises, this model's onboard Fishman® electronics provide straightforward, yet powerful tonal control.

    I wanted a nylon-string guitar with a cutaway at a low price (given my level) and I am not disappointed with the value for money. It is delivered in a box containing a hard case (a key provided - a compartment to store, for example, a set of strings, a pick...). Its top is still made of solid cedar, it is light (Thinline model, thin), has a truss rod (useful for changing string tension). The neck is relatively thin (not wide) at the headstock, and you won't have a thick block between your fingers (thickness). For the fretting, no buzzing noticed. The action (string height/neck) is quite low for comfortable playing. I haven't examined it closely, but I find the finish very acceptable, even if I would prefer matte or satin varnishes. Having received it a day before its amp, obviously, I tested it and what a surprise an hour or two later to find that a battery is provided for the preamp/tuner. Once plugged in (I repeat, I am not a musician) with some tone adjustments on the guitar and the amp, I am quite satisfied. For a beginner, low level or small budget, I can only recommend it; a YouTube video circulates showing a guy getting the best out of it, and moreover, it is protected with its hard case.
