Nux - 2-mode clip compression pedal - Mnu Sculpture-comp
The compression effect is often opaque and misunderstood by guitarists, but it is actually a very inspiring secret weapon to add snap and sustain to your sound! A compressor "cleans up" the loud notes (peaks) and raises the level of quieter notes, harmonizing the dynamic range to bring out every note played. The Nux Sculpture mini compressor pedal is very compact but offers extensive features for a compressor of its size. The three knobs control sustain (compression), level (volume of the compressed signal), and blend (mix between your dry signal and the compressed signal), allowing you to gradually keep more naturalness and attack in your sound. This mix knob already allows for many nuances, but the Sculpture goes further by offering two selectable compression modes via a one-second press on the footswitch. The "clean" soft clipping mode will cut the upper and lower edges of the signal in a "soft and progressive" way. The hard clipping mode will sharply and radically trim the top and bottom of the signal for a more aggressive compression. Finally, this clever pedal offers the possibility to select either true bypass or a buffer depending on your playing setup (selection by holding the footswitch while powering the pedal). The Nux Sculpture is therefore a complete mini compression pedal with a very good quality/price ratio!
The Clean mode has a wide range of limits from low to high, so if your guitar hits the limits too hard (like humbucker pickups), it is very suitable for controlling compression. You can also set a very soft and clean compressor for single-coil guitars in Clean mode.
When you set the knobs to achieve a perfect balance between the clipped frequencies and good sustain, the mixing circuit allows you to adjust the dry/wet compressor effect level on the processed signal. Whatever the compression level of the Sculpture compressor, you can simply adjust the opacity of the affected sound.
The Sculpture Compressor has an integrated and selectable buffer bypass.
You can change the bypass mode by powering on the device while holding down the control pedal.
