Description

Essential Information About the KORG opsix mk II Synthesizer

  • 64-voice polyphony for lush pads, wide chords, and detailed FM textures without voice stealing.
  • "Operator Mixer" with illuminated faders (carriers in red, modulators in blue) offering instant and intuitive FM control.
  • Clear interface with 6 encoders, large OLED screen, oscilloscope, and spectrum analyzer to visualize and sculpt sound.
  • Iconic KORG filters (MS-20, Polysix), 3 effect blocks/30 types, and an inspiring polyphonic sequencer.

Contemporary FM at the Heart of the KORG Range

A true evolution of the original opsix, the opsix mk II doubles the polyphony and makes FM synthesis more accessible than ever. Its front panel enhanced with a green "Operator Mixer" immediately asserts its identity. Fully compatible with sounds from the original opsix and the "opsix Native" plug-in, it naturally fits into the KORG ecosystem and opens access to a vast library of presets and additional banks.

For Creators, Performers, and Sound Designers

Whether you are an FM-curious beginner, an experienced producer, or a live musician, the opsix mk II adapts to all contexts: studio, live, installation, and experimentation. It excels in electro, techno, ambient, synthwave, pop, and soundtrack music, ranging from cutting basses to cinematic pads, crystalline bells to evolving textures.

Features and Innovations

At the core of the instrument, a modernized 6-operator FM combines with other approaches: subtractive, additive, waveshaping, analog modeling, and "semi-modular" routing via the "Algorithm" section. With 40 algorithms (plus the ability to create your own) and 21 waveforms per operator, you cover the full spectrum from 80s electric pianos to the sharpest futuristic timbres.

Modeled filters (Polysix, MS-20, LP/HP/BP/Notch types in 2 or 4 poles) add character, while 3 effect blocks (30 types) bring depth and movement. The polyphonic step sequencer records up to six notes per step, edits velocity and gate time, and captures movements on six parameters for organic phrases. The Randomize function stimulates creativity by generating a complete patch or targeted variations: operators, algorithm, or sequence.
