When developing the Argon8, MODAL Electronics was no stranger to creating very high-quality wavetable synthesizers. Specializing in the design and manufacture of premium synthesizers, MODAL Electronics made its mark with the famous 00 series, featuring unmatched technical specifications. As a direct heir to this prestigious line of synthesizers, the Argon8 broadly inherits the synthesis capabilities and features of these products, in a more compact and much more affordable format.
Hard to sum it up!
The Argon8s features are so comprehensive and significant that summarizing them fully is difficult. However, keep in mind that this superb polyphonic wavetable synthesizer, based on an elegant black powder-coated steel chassis, was developed around an 8-voice architecture, offering advanced synthesis capabilities. With 120 wavetables stored in memory, the Argon8 covers the majority of musical styles with ease. The Argon8 also features a highly efficient modulation matrix with eight assignable slots and four additional fixed routings, 11 modulation sources, and 52 destinations.
On-the-fly controllable LFOs and effects.
The Argon8 is equipped with a FATAR 37-key keyboard, developed and manufactured by the renowned Italian company, and a 4-axis control joystick. The 4-axis joystick can be assigned to a large number of modulation destinations and can be locked if desired to prevent accidental changes. It also includes two audio-rate LFOs with tempo synchronization, as well as 12 effects: a wave shaper distortion followed by three independent stereo effect engines, delivering incredible power and configurable to create sophisticated delays, lush reverbs, rich flanger, phaser, and chorus effects.
A complete interface.
To control all these parameters simply and quickly, the Argon8 features high-quality endless encoders and a very bright OLED screen providing comprehensive and efficient feedback. For an even more complete and simplified view of current parameters, the Argon8 includes a USB port allowing connection to the MODALapp on computer (or tablet with a dedicated cable sold separately), which displays all parameters, presets, active effects, and their assignments, and is also used to update the synths firmware.
