Description

Foxgear DoubleDecker II Effects Pedal

Designed between 2012 and 2014, and released at the end of 2015, the older and larger GURUS 1959 Doubledecker, as well as the Echosex 2°, was one of our flagship products that won awards from some of the world's most important magazines such as Premier Guitar, GuitarPlayer, Vintage Guitar, as well as being used on stage and in the studio by many well-known professional artists.

Many double OD/Dist pedals have been released since then, and many of you have given us numerous suggestions to improve it, and we think we have!

Here is the brand new DOUBLEDECKER MKII

Features:

Controls

  • Size: the new enclosure makes it one of the smallest double pedals on the market, considering it is a tube pedal... only 3.5" x 5"!
  • Connections: the smart dual set of connections allows you to use it as a standard pedal with a main input and main output, or split it into two separate pedals to use in two different loops of your looper/switcher... or even reverse the channel chain order for infinite boost options.
  • Switching: You only have 2 pedals to manage now, but both channels can be stacked together and boost each other. Thanks to the Clipping option switch, plus the 4 controls on each channel, you can get a huge palette of colors for your sound, up to 10 different combinations.
  • Engineering: It took a lot of work to design this innovative pedal, trying to make it sound like a true overdriven amplifier. We used a different approach from all other well-known circuits that mimic the "Marshall Tone". We started from a high voltage tube preamp section (150-300 volts), assisted by our secret weapon, the op-amp, to customize the sound. The richness of harmonic content, dynamic and tactile response, velocity, and richness of detail are typical of a true tube amp pushed to its maximum. Additionally, we worked with artists who had the chance to have their amps modified by the famous Jose Arredondo, the popular "Jose Mod" used by major professionals like EVH, Steve Vai, Doug Aldrich, Peter Frampton, Metallica, George Lynch, and many, many others. We wanted to pay a small tribute to Jose by adding two different Clipping sections to refine the sound when using the channels as two independent pedals, so everything is easy to play and the sound is excellent.
  • Clipping: Both channels together sound incredibly good without any clipping, however, we wanted to give you options, so we made two different clipping sections for the two channels, to extend the combinations for a virtually infinite possibility: NOS Germanium diodes for the Floor1 channel, very suitable for all soft OD stuff and perfectly mimic the behavior of a tube amp on the edge of clipping, LED diodes for Floor2 in symmetrical configuration for the smoothest, most complex, and incredibly compressed lead sound.
