Earthquaker THE WAVE TRANSFORMER

Description

The Essentials to Know About the Earthquaker Devices The Wave Transformer Modular Synthesizer

  • 100% Analog Eurorack Oscillator with an original wave transformation circuit, capable of morphing from a simple waveform to a dense, mutating texture via the "Transform" control.
  • 7 Simultaneous Audio Outputs to stack, mix, or route multiple wave characters in parallel within your patch.
  • Precise Tracking Over More Than 8 Octaves (starting from A-1 at 13.75 Hz), ideal for stable basslines as well as expressive lead voices.
  • Advanced Modulations: Linear and exponential FM, hard/soft sync, PWM from 0% to 100%, and dedicated sub-oscillators.

An Earthquaker Devices Module That Shakes Up the Complex Oscillator Norms

With The Wave Transformer (Wave Transformer Transfiguration Oscillator), Earthquaker Devices brings its passion for circuits with a strong character into the Eurorack realm. While many complex oscillators rely on wavefolding or filtering approaches, this module adopts a broader wave transformation logic: the "Transform" parameter evolves the timbre of each output from a readable waveform to a rich, intertwined, and lively sonic mass.

Who Is It For, and In Which Styles?

This module is aimed at experienced musicians and sound designers who want a highly modulable central oscillator, equally comfortable in techno, electro, ambient, drone, and synthwave as in texture creation for film scoring. In the studio, it excels at building complex layers from a single source. Live, its multiple outputs and CV inputs with attenuation facilitate immediate variations, from sharp leads to controlled sub basses.

Features and Innovations

The Wave Transformer is an analog oscillator designed for continuous timbre transformation. Its highlight is the "Transform" control, which radically modifies the harmonic structure of the outputs, going beyond simple wavefolding. The module offers 7 waveform outputs usable simultaneously, convenient for sending different signals to a filter, wavefolder, VCA, or separate effects chain. The modulation section is patch-friendly: dedicated attenuators and attenuverters on each CV input, exponential and linear FM for precise vibratos or metallic timbres, as well as hard sync and soft sync to lock or soften synchronization. The PWM covers 0% to 100% for sculpting very narrow or very wide pulses. On fundamentals, there is a fixed suboctave pulse output at -1 octave (25% cycle) and a switchable Sub Square output to instantly reinforce the lows. Finally, the complex Source Mute switch allows simultaneous control of volume and timbre, including at audio rates via the Transform CV input, producing effects close to ring modulation, AM, or ultra-dynamic timbral transitions depending on your patch.
