A very good method, which quickly gets to the point after covering the basics. Some basic music theory can help but no prior knowledge of the flute is necessary. I bought this method for myself but it is so enjoyable that my wife also started using it. The provided flute is of quite decent quality. Only a small criticism: the CD tracks are not indicated in the book, you have to refer to an index towards the end of the book to know which track corresponds to which exercise or piece. As for the CD itself, the explanations are clear and intelligible and the pieces are well recorded, you simply have a good time listening to them. Note that the accompaniments and flute tunes are recorded separately, one on the left channel and the other on the right channel of the stereo: if you can control the volume of the two channels separately on your playback device you can enjoy the accompaniments alone to play along.
