attention, you need to learn the fingerings that are not those of a recorder, nor of a transverse flute or traverso, and some sounds are difficult to produce or lack accuracy. But at this price, you have to expect it! It's barely a musical instrument, but to play it you have to be a flutist, and definitely not a beginner!

I bought this instrument to test my ability on a transverse flute at little cost before committing to bigger expenses. I got my money's worth: it's a nice little instrument. But it's not so easy to play - after a few weeks, I only master the first octave, and not as well as I would like. The low register is quite soft and pretty, but the sound becomes piercing in the high notes, and I have seen several times the advice to protect your ears! Which is normal for this class of instrument: it seems that not only piccolo players (the closest classical instrument) risk going deaf, but also their unfortunate neighbors in the orchestra... After this purchase, I also learned that there is an Aulos fife with a double F hole, which supposedly allows playing a sharper F more accurately than with this one... but this little problem is the least of my worries as long as I struggle with the second octave!
