A true time travel experience, the Antiquity Retrospec'd Humbuckers give your Les Paul the priceless sound of 1955 P.A.Fs that would have been played for decades, while carrying a history with them. This Retrospec'd version of the Antiquity Humbuckers offers the same features and the same magnetic aging of the pickup magnets as the Antiquity, but with a new, non-relic visual appearance.
The Antiquity Retrospec'd Humbuckers are exact reproductions of Seth E. Lover's P.A.Fs by the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop, with period specifications, the original Leesona winding machine, and carefully selected materials. Magnets and coils are artificially aged and relic'ed to deliver the sound of pickups that would have decades of playing time behind them.
The Antiquity Retrospec'd Humbucker in the neck position delivers a rather soft sound while remaining very full and articulate. This is the result of a perfectly balanced frequency response, combining a non-aggressive attack and warm lows. The specifically aged Alnico 2 magnet offers clarity and articulation to chords, while the vintage coils highlight the harmonic richness of the whole. With just the right amount of highs and character, each note stands out beautifully, and the guitar becomes more singing than ever.
Each Antiquity Retrospec'd Humbucker is made by the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop and magnetically aged to simulate the wear experienced by a pickup after decades of use. The mold used for the butyrate coils was created by the same factory that made the original P.A.F. mold for Gibson. Among its other key features are Seymour Duncan's raw enamel 42 AWG magnetic wire, a nickel silver cover, a 6.35 mm (2.5 inch) Alnico 2 magnet, a metal spacer, a custom-machined maple spacer, a pressure-return single conductor braided cable, and a nickel silver baseplate with long mounting legs. True to the original Gibson P.A.Fs, these humbuckers are not wax potted, allowing you to achieve an incomparable vintage tone.
