Very discreet and often forgotten, direct boxes are nonetheless critical elements in the studio and on stage, which should not be neglected. What are these little boxes for, you ask? Simply to balance a signal and adapt the impedance of a high-impedance source, such as a guitar microphone or synthesizer, to the mic or line input of a mixing console. This makes it possible to connect your instrument directly to a mixing desk, while greatly reducing the risk of signal interference.

With the CES01, Cordial has developed a simply designed but very effective direct box. It is equipped with an instrument jack input and a Through output, which allows the raw instrument signal to be sent to a monitor or amplifier without impedance correction, and an XLR output allowing direct connection to a mixing console. It also features a 30 dB attenuator very useful for connecting a powerful source without saturating the circuit, such as a digital piano for example. Being 100% passive in design, it requires no additional power supply to operate!

Non-slip pads, a shielded metal housing designed to withstand strong twisting, recessed controls protected by the metal housing's overhang... In short, everything has been thought out to ensure its survival on the battlefield that is the stage. With its Rean connectors manufactured under license by Neutrik, it is shock-resistant.
The Cordial CES 01 passive direct box offers an excellent compromise between high sound quality and acquisition cost. It allows you, for example, to connect a line-level or speaker-level output to a balanced microphone-level input on a mixing desk. It is equipped with a ground lift switch and a 0/-30 dB pad for increased versatility. Due to its passive design, it requires no phantom power or battery to operate.
