Description

Principles, exercises, tips and tricks, everything you need to know!
This book presents the basic concepts to get started in the practice of improvisation. It is the fruit of the author's work during numerous masterclasses in conservatories and music schools.
After explaining what you need to know to get started, he offers 3 approaches, of increasing difficulty:
- the first is to learn how to build a "boilerplate" scale, from pentatonic scales and from the blues scale. This scale will allow you to start and have fun easily with notes that can all "sound" correctly on the accompaniment chords of the pieces. This approach is that practiced by the pioneers of jazz and is technically within the reach of all musicians.
- the second approach, to go a little further, is to rely on the notes of the chords indicated by the encryption. Learn to use these "pillar" notes and to identify the characteristic notes of these chords in order to then link these chords
- the third approach, to go even further, is to integrate foreign notes which will enrich the musical phrases, to use chromatic notes, to substitute chords. Some little tips will be given to perfect the language of improvisation. This course has allowed many students to gain confidence and, from the first blues in the history of jazz to the most modern standards, to understand how to juggle notes.
