Successor to the famous ?C414 B-TL II,? it retains the ability to naturally place a source upfront, even in dense mixes, while maintaining high performance levels for orchestral recording or drum ambience capture.
The C414 XLII is designed for sound engineers, demanding home studio users, and broadcast setups seeking a versatile large-diaphragm condenser. Its mid-high frequency enhancement brings clarity and brilliance to solo vocals, brass sections, and jazz pianos, while its multiple polar patterns make it suitable for overheads, room miking, ensemble recording, and distant capture in reverberant spaces.
Cardioid, omni, figure-8, and six intermediate positions allow adaptation of rejection and stereo width to the room acoustics. The locking function prevents accidental setting changes, useful on tour or in fixed installations.
The 40/80/160 Hz high-pass filters control proximity effect, handling noise, and rumble. The -6/-12/-18 dB pads enable recording of powerful sources without distortion, supported by a clipping detection LED sensitive even to very short transients.
