Marine Band 1896 Classic The harmonica that defined the sound of the traditional blues! Made since 1896 with a pear wood base and hoods with side openings, the Marine Band Classic remains the most popular harmonica in the world and the instrument of choice for many professional harmonicists. Its design and traditional tuning give it an incomparable sound that has shaped the "blues sound" on countless reference recordings. Flagship of the HOHNER diatonic harmonicas, the Marine Band Classic has not fundamentally evolved since its creation and introduction in the 19th century by immigrants of German origin in the United States, and in particular in Texas and in the two Carolinas (North and South). Adopted by black musicians because of its (small) price, the Marine Band, millions of which have been exported to the United States, has gradually established itself as the instrument of choice for "bluesmen" before to conquer the world.
