The ATH-R70xa is the flagship of Audio-Technica's benchmark line of professional open-back headphones. This upgraded version of the ATH-R70x delivers the same natural and balanced sound as its predecessor, while offering enhanced detail and precision for a superior listening experience, with even more defined soundstage and depth.
The sound of fully open-back headphones depends entirely on the performance of the driver, with every movement of the diaphragm being directly translated into audio, without relying on acoustic chambers or resonances for frequency enhancement. While the ATH-R70x used acoustic and damping processes to enhance low-frequency reproduction, the ATHR70xa delivers pure sound directly from the drivers for a true open-back listening experience and very low distortion. This ensures precise, natural sound and realistic placement within the soundstage.
Designed for analytical listening, the ATH-R70xa headphones enable engineers to make the right decisions at every stage of production. With their extended frequency response, every detail of the mix is reproduced transparently. Unrestricted airflow and the absence of internal resonances enable extremely fast transient response, ensuring the clarity and separation needed to manage today's complex mixes.
These featherweight, fully open-back headphones (199g without cable) feature streamlined metal reinforcement and a new headband, making them completely invisible, perfect for long work sessions. The ATH-R70xa are hand-assembled at our Machida factory. Each pair is carefully assembled using in-house components and then rigorously tested before leaving our factory. Whether for mixing, mastering or creating, the ATH-R70xa is the perfect production tool, providing an accurate and reliable reference for both stereo, multi-channel and immersive formats.
