Description

MXR M307 LAYERS

The MXR Layers is the ideal tool for musicians who want to transcend their playing and explore new sonic dimensions. This highly innovative pedal delivers a rich and organic sustain, transforming every chord and note into airy layers. With numerous controls, this pedal adapts equally well to musicians seeking simplicity and to the most demanding sonic explorers. Whether you want to extend the duration of your notes or create rich and complex sound textures, the MXR Layers is designed to push the creative limits of your instrument. You can stack 3 layers simultaneously, giving free rein to your imagination. Create chords with unexpected nuances, ethereal melodies, orchestral harmonies, or immersive stereo pads, all in a compact MXR format.

USING AN EXPRESSION PEDAL TO BLEND TWO SETTINGS

An expression pedal such as the DVP5 Volume Pedal (X)?8 can be used to switch and sweep between two different setting configurations. First, place the CTR switch in the TAP/EXP position (left). Then, run a TRS cable from the expression pedal to the CTR jack on the Layers pedal. Set to the low position. Adjust the knobs and set as desired. Move the toggle to the down position. Adjust the knobs and mode switches as desired for another setting configuration. Moving the toggle back and forth
allows smooth transitioning between the sounds created by the two settings. Note that the advanced settings of the SINGLE knob are expression-controlled, whereas the advanced settings of the SUB OCT knob are not (see Advanced Settings).

STEREO INPUT

To operate in Stereo Input mode, remove the bottom plate of the MXR Layers pedal, locate the MONO/STEREO input switch, and set it to the STEREO position (left). It is also recommended to enable stereo output to use the stereo input function.

STEREO OUTPUT

To operate in stereo output mode, use a TRS splitter cable between the OUTPUT jack of the Layers pedal and the chosen inputs, and set the CTR switch to its TAP/EXP position (left). Then, press and hold the SUB OCT button, and turn the DECAY knob fully clockwise to select stereo output mode. The center LEDs flash to confirm.
To return to mono output mode, follow the same steps and turn the DECAY knob fully clockwise.
When stereo output is enabled, the three layers are panned left, center, and right, visually represented by the positions of the layer LEDs. When modulation is enabled (see Advanced Settings), it is possible to perform automatic panning of the layers across the entire stereo field.

DRY/WET SPLIT

The MXR Layers pedal can separate its dry and wet signals to use each signal in an effects chain or to operate within a dry/wet stereo system. First, set the CTR switch to the AUDIO position (right). Route the wet signal from the OUT jack and the dry signal from the CTR jack to the inputs of your choice.
Note: The Stereo Input and Stereo Output modes must be disabled for the Dry/Wet Split mode to function properly.
