Henle Verlag DEBUSSY CLAUDE - INTERMEZZO, SCHERZO - PIANO, VIOLONCELLE

Description

All cellists are well acquainted with this Sonata by Debussy, composed in 1915 only, three years before the composer's death. But as early as 1882 – he was then just 20 years old – he had already written two works for cello and piano. They remained practically unknown to the public for a long time, as the autograph of the "Intermezzo" – the only source of this work – remained inaccessible for several decades. Today, Henle Editions are in the fortunate position to present a Urtext edition of the "Intermezzo," complemented by "Scherzo," published posthumously in 1995. Jeffrey Solow (cello) and Eckart Sellheim (piano) were responsible for the bowings and fingerings, respectively.
