Joseph Haydn Piano Sonata in E flat major Hob. XVI: 49
Georg Feder (Editor)
Evgeny Kissin (Fingering)
Silke Schloen (Preface, Critical Commentary)
Dated June 1, 1790 in the autograph manuscript, the Sonata in E flat major was written by Haydn for Marianne von Gennzinger, whom he was personally close to and with whom he made music. The recipient was touched by it, but obviously had some difficulties with the crossing of the hands in the very beautiful passage in B flat minor in the middle part of the 2nd movement: “as I'm not used to it, it is very difficult for me. " For Evgeny Kissin, who accepted the “sponsorship” of this sonata, such passages obviously pose no problems - and Éditions G. Henle are proud to now be able to present this treasure due to Joseph Haydn with fingerings signed by the legendary pianist Evgeny Kissin!
