Description
Aluminum wah-wah mute.
Tom Crown offers a wide choice of brass mutes. Each of them has different characteristics:
- The dry mute, also called "straight mute": This is the mute most used by musicians. It offers a rich and distinctive grain of sound and is essential in all musical styles.
- The wah-wah mute: It offers a surprising variety of sounds. Popularized by jazz, the sound is more muffled and metallic. The central tube can be adjusted or removed. The mute then becomes "wee-zee" and the musician gets the much sought after sound of "Miles Davis".
- The bowl mute, also called "cup mute": Rather intended for jazz, it is also found in contemporary concertos. It muffles and softens the sound without affecting the grain.
- Mute mutes, also called "Whisper mute" or "practice mute": This is an exercise mute that allows the musician to play without disturbing the neighborhood. It minimizes the sound level without however disturbing the sound emission.
