Waves Bass Fingers is a virtual instrument designed to produce credible fingerstyle bass lines in your productions. It suits styles such as pop, rock, funk, indie, R&B, soul, hip-hop, or soundtrack music when you need a bass that "breathes": nuanced attacks, natural releases, and tonal variations depending on the neck position. In the studio, it replaces a bass recording when you don't have an instrument on hand, and it speeds up writing by allowing you to switch from a clean, round playing to a more biting sound without changing tools.
The engine is based on a 15.5 GB library with over 14,000 samples, featuring 8 velocity layers and 6 round robin variations per sampled note. The result: repeated notes retain an organic feel, and intensity changes naturally follow your MIDI playing. Sustain and decay management, as well as sampled releases, contribute to a bass that immediately sits well in the mix.
To go beyond a simple bass sound, Bass Fingers includes articulations accessible via keyswitch: legato, slides (up and down), squeaks (finger noises), hammer-ons, and pull-offs. These details make a difference in transitions, implicit ghost notes, and fast phrases. You can also manage your velocity ranges, adjust touch response, and control essential parameters like sustain, transposition, and other MIDI functions to tailor the instrument to your programming style.
The same C note does not have the same timbre depending on whether it is played on a low string or higher up the neck. This is precisely the purpose of the adaptive fretboard: 21 interactive playing positions with intelligent logic, allowing you to choose where to "place your hand" and recover the timbral changes of a real instrument. To enhance realism, an option allows you to force the E, A, D, G strings to play as open strings, useful for obtaining the characteristic attack and resonance of open strings.
Bass Fingers includes a complete processing chain to quickly switch from a clean direct sound to a more aggressive bass. You have a 4-band EQ for shaping, an amp and cabinet simulation (several combinations), and pre/post-amp effects to enrich the texture. Whether you're looking for a round vintage low end, a present midrange to cut through the mix, or a brighter modern playing style, the instrument covers a wide range of characters without multiplying external plugins.
With 97 presets (factory and artist), you save time targeting a specific aesthetic: balanced pop bass, edgier rock, punchy funk, or more processed texture. The instrument is NKS-ready for smooth integration with NI Maschine and Komplete Kontrol, and can be used as a plugin or in standalone mode depending on your workflow.
