Description

A quality diet is the basis of a good pedalboard. It was therefore logical that the reference mark for the effects pedals also offers the ultimate tool to provide them with power, the MXR M238 Iso Brick.

The sense of priorities.
As guitarists passionate about gear, we are often guilty of spending a lot more time asking questions about the parts of our gear that produce sound rather than the utilities that can make all the difference. We all know a musician friend who has gone through about twenty different overdrives or fuzz but who still feeds them with a poor quality 9V power adapter. For others, those who have decided to pass the course of the true sound requirement, there is the MXR M238 Iso Brick.

High voltage.
Powering pedals is not just about providing them with power, which any adapter can do. First you need isolated circuits, otherwise the ground loops will bring you a permanent background noise that may well discourage you in your quest for the ultimate sound. It also requires circuits powerful enough to power the most greedy pedals on the market. With ten perfectly isolated outputs, so two offer 300 mA and two others 450 mA. In short, you have something to do!

Adaptable.
But the MXR M238 Iso Brick is not only a silent and powerful power supply, it also offers great flexibility. Thus, in addition to the classic 9 V outputs, you have two outputs powered by 18 V for pedals to the most pronounced headroom, and two outputs with variable power, adjustable between 6 and 15 V. The interest of this setting is, for example, in the simulation of a used battery that delivers a little less than the advertised 9 V, which will make a vintage fuzz more fluffy. More than a simple diet, Iso Brick is a way to rediscover your favorite pedals.

Good quality, a bit expensive but with individually isolated outputs. Maybe missing two or three Y cables to chain pedals when it doesn't interfere because you quickly run out of standard 9V.
