Description
Firebird Platypus Tobacco Sunburst
At the beginning of 1965, the original Firebird? design went through several different iterations. One significant transition that occurred reversed the guitar headstock to the "Non-Reverse" shape. Unlike the original Reverse design, which featured a two-ply headstock with holly veneer, the new headstock was flat, like a platypus bill. The Firebird Platypus is equipped with six-spoke tuners rather than banjo-style tuners, as was the case on previous Firebirds. The Firebird Platypus pays tribute to these rare transitional models. It features a mahogany body, a set and bound neck, and the appearance of a traditional reversed through-neck Firebird neck. The mahogany neck has a SlimTaper? profile and a rosewood fingerboard, and sports the Platypus-style headstock with Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners. The Platypus-style headstock has been slightly modified to allow straight string pull to reduce friction and improve tuning stability. The Firebird is one of the most distinctive guitar designs of all time, and the Firebird Platypus takes this legendary guitar even further with its unique look. Its tone is just as unique thanks to its two historically accurate and articulate Firebird mini humbucker? pickups with Alnico 5 magnets that can deliver a bell-like chime in clean tone and excellent rock and blues sounds when pushed. Individual volume and tone controls allow you to further customize the sound, and of course, the pickguard features the legendary heat-stamped Firebird graphic. A hard case is also included.
