Our piano reduction is based on the "Studien-Edition" HN 9989, published simultaneously and presenting for the first time Debussy's "particelle" in printed notation. The composer had left only a small number of solos for the saxophone. A common practice today, especially in the version with piano accompaniment, is to assign the saxophone several melodic passages borrowed from the orchestra. For this reason, our edition presents alongside the original part an expanded solo part developed by Daniel Gauthier, professor of classical saxophone at the Cologne University of Music. This is the first work for saxophone listed in the Henle catalog.
