Jeff Beck Oxblood 1954 Les Paul, Oxblood
Sound. Sensitivity. Taste. Grace and finesse.
To many guitarists and thousands of fans, Jeff Beck was one of the greatest musicians to ever hold a guitar. From his beginnings with the Yardbirds to his projects with the Jeff Beck Group, Beck, Bogert & Appice, as a studio musician and throughout his solo career, Jeff Beck was one of the most influential lead guitarists of all time. A true guitarists guitarist and sonic innovator, he mastered many genres: rock, blues, hard rock, and jazz fusion. He helped popularize the use of feedback, fuzz pedals, and distortion, influencing countless musicians with his unmistakable style.
An eight-time GRAMMY Award winner, including six for Best Rock Instrumental Performance, Beck also received the Ivor Novello Award for his outstanding contribution to British music. He was inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: once with the Yardbirds, and once as a solo artist.
His heavily modified 1954 Les Paul, known as the Oxblood due to its unique chocolate red finish, was immortalized on the cover of his groundbreaking first solo album Blow by Blow. The original recently sold at auction for a record $1.3 million. In 2009, Gibson Custom recreated the Oxblood in a limited edition of only 50 aged examples, still highly sought after by collectors.
Today, Epiphone, in collaboration with Gibson Custom, is proud to present the Jeff Beck Oxblood 1954 Les Paul, inspired by this iconic guitar. It features a mahogany body with a maple top, a one-piece mahogany neck with a long tenon and Jeff Beck Custom Large C profile, a rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and aged mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays. The Gibson "open book" style headstock sports an Epiphone logo in aged mother-of-pearl.
It is equipped with a low-friction Graph Tech nut, Schaller M6 90 tuners, and two US-made Gibson Custombucker humbuckers wired with CTS potentiometers and Mallory capacitors following a 1950s wiring scheme. Other faithful details include gold Speed knobs, a Les Paul pickguard with a cutout above the bridge pickup, and a Gibson Historic Wraparound bridge.
It comes in a black Epiphone hard case with "Inspired by Gibson Custom" graphics and includes a vintage replica strap. Available for a limited time a rare opportunity to own an accessible tribute to one of the worlds most famous, valuable, and iconic electric guitars, and the genius instrumentalist who made it legendary: Jeff Beck.
