Originally launched as a flagship model in 1985, the Custom 24 embodies PRS?s DNA: comfort, reliability, and distinctive aesthetics. The Piezo version expands its sonic territory by adding a credible ?acoustic? voice, controllable via a mini-switch and Blend control. Thanks to the dual outputs (magnetic and piezo), it transitions seamlessly from guitar amp to mixing console/PA, making it ideal for stage and studio use.
Designed for intermediate to professional guitarists who want a single guitar capable of covering everything. Pop/rock, funk, fusion, modern metal, prog: the intermediate positions offer crisp rhythms, while the extreme positions deliver dense, singing leads. The piezo allows switching between ?acoustic? arpeggios and electric textures within the same set.
The PRS DMO humbuckers deliver an open and articulate tone: firm lows, expressive mids, and precise highs. The 5-way selector multiplies tonal nuances, from bright cleans to thick saturations with generous sustain. The mahogany/maple combination provides warmth, attack, and projection; the rosewood fingerboard adds smoothness and a natural response to the touch. The LR Baggs/PRS piezo produces a natural acoustic color, usable alone via its dedicated output or blended with the magnetic pickups for very contemporary hybrid textures. Volume and tone controls complete electronics designed for live reliability.
A set of nickel strings ?10-46? (factory setup) suits most styles. To use both systems simultaneously, plan for two 6.35 mm jack cables (magnetic to guitar amp, piezo to DI/console). Add a sturdy strap with secure locks and a stable guitar stand; a capo suited for a 10" / 254 mm radius and a clip-on tuner will perfectly complement the setup.
