Essential Information About the Wilkinson S-Style Electric Guitar

  • Body in American alder, bolt-on neck in maple and rosewood fingerboard for an exemplary balance of attack and warmth.

  • Expressive Wilkinson WVC vibrato and Wilkinson WJ55S E-Z-Lok tuners for reliable tuning stability.

  • Three Wilkinson single-coil pickups + 5-position selector: clarity, dynamics, and great versatility.

  • Modern comfort: 25.5" / 648 mm scale length, 22 medium frets, ivory fingerboard inlays.

A Legacy of 1950s Solid-Body Guitars, Updated

Inspired by the iconic "S-Type" models, this guitar incorporates the features that shaped pop, funk, and blues sounds since the 1950s: alder body, bolt-on maple neck, trio of single-coil pickups, and vintage vibrato. Wilkinson components update the formula with improved stability, refined electronics, and contemporary playability.

For Which Musician and Styles?

Ideal for beginners to intermediate players seeking an inspiring guitar, it also suits experienced guitarists looking for a versatile instrument. The single-coils shine in funk, pop, blues, indie rock, and surf, while remaining comfortable with clean tones, light crunch, or moderate overdrive.

The Sound

The Wilkinson single-coil pickups deliver precise attack, sculpted highs, and airy mids. The 5-position selector covers silky neck tones, very funky "quack" intermediate positions, up to the sharper bridge position. The alder provides balanced lows and great projection, the maple neck adds snap, while the rosewood softens the overall tone. The WVC vibrato allows subtle vibrato and shimmer, with natural sustain supported by chrome hardware and E-Z-Lok tuners.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

For immediate playability: a set of nickel electric guitar strings in 9-42 or 10-46 gauge (compatible with the 25.5" scale), 6.35 mm instrument cable (jack-to-jack), and a standard guitar strap with reinforced strap locks. These essentials cover most rehearsal and stage uses while maintaining stability and comfort.

One more! Delivery time ok, packaging ok. The guitar? It's really great. Also on sale, wow what a deal! Alder body like the Fender. And... one-piece maple neck with varnish. It rocks! Beautiful nuanced colors. Variable string spacing in the tremolo block. EZ blocker tuners with 2 different heights 2 + 4 identical and vintage Wilkinson tremolo. Detail, tremolo arm tension adjustment via a screw in the tremolo block! Wilkinson pickups sound very good from bass to treble with clear nuances depending on the selected positions. It's really a good Strat. Now on the factory assembly side... the received unit was not top notch in terms of setup. Harmonics ok. But, tuner bushings not fully inserted into the headstock. The pickguard protective film stuck under the neck... the tremolo (in floating mode, that is) but very raised on the treble strings side and not parallel to the body and... strings mounted traditionally instead of using the double EZ locker passages.. So, complete disassembly of the beast. Neck to remove the protective film (small curvature adjustment in the process), tuners for complete insertion and full tremolo adjustment with string change (Ernie Ball 10-46, sounds better) in EZ blocker mode. Well, the factory team must not have been ON that day ;) That said, once again, really a great guitar that sounds amazing like a Strat and rocks with its neck. Good catch :)... (Show more)
