A unique manufacturing technique
Thanks to the world's first high-temperature hydraulic drying system, Pearl's SST method was developed to manufacture a multi-ply drum shell glued with the resonance and strength of a single ply.
This exclusive technique starts with hand-selected premium woods for their unique acoustic characteristics.
Each ply is milled to a precise thickness and glued into two-ply panels.
Our trademark, the overlapping joints, is added to ensure a perfect and airtight fit. The wood plies are saturated with Pearl's exclusive "AcoustiGlue," which penetrates every pore and dries to the exact consistency of the wood for optimal resonance.
The plies are finally formed in high-temperature molds with 1000 PSI hydraulic pressure, producing the ultimate air chamber for optimal resonance, extreme strength, and superior sound.
The consistency and quality of all shells are tested before drilling and assembly to ensure a perfect fit and tuning.
An incredible dynamic range
6 plies, 5.4 mm of North American maple (4 outer plies) and eucalyptus (2 inner plies). The natural warmth of maple is enhanced by the dense and controlling character of eucalyptus, allowing for increased tonal versatility and diversity.
