L-00 Special Satin Vintage Sunburst
First introduced in 1932, the L-00 has remained the most well-known and popular small-body acoustic model in Gibson's illustrious history. The new L-00 Special is crafted by Gibson’s expert acoustic luthiers in Bozeman, Montana, and offers players a U.S.-made Gibson acoustic guitar at a very accessible price. The L-00 Special is made with solid mahogany back and sides and features a Sitka spruce top with our traditional scalloped X-bracing for a balanced tone with excellent dynamic range for a small-bodied acoustic guitar. The top and back are bound with simple single-ply binding. The narrower body size of the L-00 produces a focused and nuanced sound, naturally delivering a finer and tighter bass response that fits perfectly in the mix. The tone is ideal for fingerstyle and blues playing but also suits other genres and playing styles very well. The neck is set to the body with a dovetail joint and, as with all Gibson acoustic guitars, it is hot glued. The neck has a comfortable and fast SlimTaper profile, and the rosewood fingerboard has a 12" radius, is adorned with simple mother-of-pearl dot inlays, and is equipped with 19 standard frets. The closed-slot rectangular rosewood bridge is fitted with a TUSQ® saddle, and the saddle and bridge pins are also TUSQ. The Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners with smooth rotation provide solid tuning stability. The L-00 Special is finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer in Satin Vintage Sunburst or Satin Wine Red colors. It is equipped with an active piezo pickup under the bridge, the L.R. Baggs Element Bronze, and an active preamp with an easy-access volume control mounted in the soundhole, making it stage- and studio-ready right out of the premium soft case included.
